About Picture Shift

A 5×5 sliding picture puzzle with no empty tile

Picture Shift gives the sliding puzzle a different rule: every space is filled. Moving a row or column shifts all five tiles one space. The tile that leaves one edge spins across to the opposite side, so a single move changes several pieces at once.

How to play Picture Shift

Look at the completed picture, then choose Mix / Start to watch a fresh random scramble.
Swipe or drag a row left/right, or a column up/down, to shift it one tile at a time.
Restore the original picture. The Moves counter records your shifts, and Hints records how often you use Show picture.

Controls

Use a finger on a touchscreen, or click and drag with a mouse. Choose Show picture to fade the finished image over the puzzle, then tap the image to return to play. Mix again starts a new scramble and asks before discarding an unfinished puzzle with moves.

Tips for your next round

Check both the lettering and the flowing background shapes to identify neighboring tiles.
Notice how a column move changes several rows before you make the next shift.
Use the picture overlay when you lose your bearings, then try to improve your move and hint counts on your next puzzle.
